FAQ

Most sewing machines with an 8″ to 13″ throat space can be used with the Mini Quilter.

To use the Mini Quilter successfully, your machine should:

• Have at least an 8″ throat space

• Allow the feed dogs to be lowered or covered

• Consider the block sizes you’d like to quilt. Larger throat spaces allow for larger quilting designs before advancing your quilt.

Not sure if your machine qualifies? Give us a call. We’ll help you determine if your machine is compatible before you invest in a frame.

The size of your machine’s throat space determines how much quilting area you have before advancing the quilt.

As a general rule, larger throat spaces allow you to quilt larger blocks, motifs, and quilting designs in a single pass.

For example, a machine with a 8″ throat typically provides about 5″ of quilting space, while a machine with a 13″ throat provides closer to 10″ of quilting space.

If you love larger quilting motifs, feathers, or custom designs, a machine with a larger throat space will give you more room to work.

More than most quilters expect.

The Mini Quilter helps you tackle projects one zone at a time, making it possible to quilt everything from baby quilts and crib quilts to twin-size projects without needing a large quilting frame.

Your quilting zone depends on the throat space of your sewing machine. Larger throat spaces allow you to complete larger sections before advancing the quilt, while smaller throat spaces require more zones.

The Mini Quilter is designed for quilters who want to start quilting without a ton of basting, fabric wrestling, or dedicating an entire room to a quilting setup.

As a general guide:

• Baby Quilt (30″ x 40″) – Approx. 6 Zones

• Crib Quilt (36″ x 52″) – Approx. 8 Zones

• Twin Quilt (70″ x 90″) – Approx. 20 Zones

Because sometimes the best way to finish a quilt is one section at a time.

.

No.

The Mini Quilter is a free-motion quilting frame, which means you guide the machine yourself as you quilt.

Unlike some larger frame systems, the Mini Quilter is not designed to support automation upgrades.

The good news? Many quilters love free-motion quilting because it gives them complete creative control and helps them build confidence in their quilting skills.

If automation is important to you, we’d be happy to help you compare other Grace systems that are designed with future automation options in mind.

It is designed to sit on a table.

At only 27.5″ x 29.5″, the Mini Quilter is small enough to fit on many kitchen tables, craft tables, workbenches, and sewing room surfaces.

One of the biggest advantages of the Mini Quilter is that you can enjoy frame quilting without dedicating an entire room to your setup.

And when you’re finished quilting, it stores easily until your next project.

Both frames let you quilt with the sewing machine you already own—but they are designed for different goals.

The Mini Quilter is the most compact option. At just 27.5″ x 29.5″, it’s ideal for quilters who want a lightweight frame that fits almost anywhere and stores easily when not in use.

The Cutie Breeze offers a larger quilting area, supports a wider range of machine sizes, and can be paired with QMX automation in the future.

Choose the Mini Quilter if you want maximum portability and simplicity.

Choose the Cutie Breeze if you want more quilting space and future upgrade options.

Do I need my son, daughter, neighbor, or an engineer to assemble it? 🤣

Nope.

Most quilters are surprised by how quickly the Mini Quilter comes together.

It’s designed to be simple, compact, and beginner friendly. If you can follow basic instructions and use a screwdriver, you can assemble the Mini Quilter.

No engineering degree required.

No emergency phone call to the kids required.

And if you get stuck, we’re only a phone call away.

If you’re looking for a compact quilting frame that works with the sewing machine you already own, the Mini Quilter may be exactly what you’re looking for.

It’s a great fit for quilters who:

• Want to start frame quilting without a large investment

• Need a frame that fits in a smaller space

• Prefer something lightweight and easy to store

• Enjoy free-motion quilting and hands-on creativity

• Want to finish more projects without spending hours basting

The Mini Quilter won’t be the right choice for everyone—and that’s okay.
